I have all of my trip to Birmingham planned now and I just cannot wait to go. I have decided to go there for a weekend, for a city break. A family friend is conducting an orchestral concert at the symphony hall and so I am going to him do that which should be fun. I have organised to fly out on the Friday after work, pick up a hire car to get to my cheap hotel which is outside of the centre and then have a few days of fun in the city.

It is a very long time since I visited Birmingham and I know that it has changed a lot. I would love to go shopping and so that is what I plan on doing for most of the day on Saturday, until I have to get ready for the concert in the evening. Then I am planning on having a quieter day on Sunday, maybe visiting a museum or park or something, I will see what the weather is like first and then make up my mind. I might even ask the staff at the hotel if they can recommend somewhere for me to visit. I will not be able to go too far away though as I will be flying back in the evening as I need to work on Monday morning. Hopefully it will not go too fast though and I will have a chance to relax and enjoy myself and it will feel like a holiday.

Birmingham Airport Check-In

Check-in used to be an incredibly arduous affair. You used to have to arrive very early to try and beat the queue and would only get on your plane by the skin of your teeth. This is no longer the case; in fact, check-in could not be made any easier than it is at Birmingham Airport. For all the people with hand held luggage only, there is a much easier and more preferable option to standing in line for hours on end just to receive your boarding passes. There are a number of airlines that now offer the chance to check-in online if you have no large luggage to leave and you can pick up your boarding passes from the airport. The best thing is that this can be done up to 24 hours before the flight is due to depart, giving you peace of mind and a more relaxed pre-flight experience.

This benefits everyone who is trying to check-in. There is nothing more annoying than waiting for hours behind streams of people with only hand luggage checking-in, and thinking that it shouldn’t be so hard to just give them their boarding cards; the sheer volume of people slows the system down. With online check-in, however, this is no longer a problem. The only people who are queuing up to check-in are the people with suitcases, and the people with only hand luggage only need to concern themselves with collecting their boarding passes. The system becomes much more convenient for all concerned!
